This is a salaried, exempt position.
 
 

Job Summary:

The Process Controls Engineer will comprise of several components related to process control and plant automation. These components include all aspects of plant automation and controls from system specification, installation, and application development. To fill this role you would ideally have more than 5 years’ experience with more than one of the following skills.
 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand and follow written standards and develop process applications and systems
  • Prioritize needs from several business units within our company including project management teams, engineering and plant management
  • Communicating and tracking project work for different levels of plant personnel will be critical
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment, as well as independently
  • Trouble shoot and resolve process control issues and assist colleagues at other plant locations with similar issues
  • Programming and application experience with a distributed control system, with preference to the NovaTech D/3
  • Develop strategy for personal and process safety

Job Requirements:

  •  Experience with training others in specialized areas of process controls
  • Training at various operations and skill levels within the company
  • Developing ideas and communicate effectively will be essential
  • Experience with programming and solving logic controllers with emphasis on Quantum platform controllers, Allen Bradley Control Logix, Plant PAX, and OSI PI. Experience with Power Bi is a plus
  • Familiarity with I/O systems and I/O connectivity to DCS and PLC systems
  • Experience or equivalent knowledge of instrumentation and control wiring installation and wiring systems related to motor control center or programmable log controller
  • Understanding of personal computers, servers, networking equipment, and network wiring as it relates to industrial process controls
  • Experience with VB.Net programming
  • Extended periods of sitting and keyboard operation
  • System outage windows will require occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work
  • Occasional air travel may be required
  • Willing and able to spend time in plant areas (i.e. walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders, and move through close spaces) working hands-on with the automation systems and equipment
  • Capable of working in extreme temperatures
  • A desire to learn and advance into higher levels of process automation or electrical engineering
  • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering/related field, or equivalent work experience
