    Summer School Teaching Position

    Dates/Times:

    Friday, June 14 - Thursday, July 11 ( No School July 4th and July 5th)
    6/14 – Teacher Training
    8:30 – 11:00

    6/17 – All Staff Day
    8:00 – 3:00

    Student Attendance:
    K – 8 8:00 – 11:45 (K - 8 Staff 7:30 - 12:00)
    EC - 8:15 – 10:15 (EC Staff 7:45 - 1:00)
    EC - 10:30 – 12:30

    Rate of Pay:
    $36.00/hour

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


    l. Instructional

    A. Plans and implements a program of study consistent with the IEP that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of assigned students.

    B. Selects and uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives.

    C. Develops and maintains a written schedule that allots appropriate amounts of time to all applicable areas of the curriculum.

    D. Monitors and assesses student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students, their parents and supervisory personnel.

    E. Diagnoses, instructs and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance of district specialists as required.

    F. Communicates aims and/or objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner, using clear and precise language.

    G. Attends and prepares for building level teams, multidisciplinary conferences and annual reviews as scheduled by building principal.

    2. Climate and Student Relationships

    A. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of assigned students.

    B. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing the development of proper student conduct.

    C. Establishes a positive emotional climate in the classroom through the development and implementation of reasonable classroom rules of behavior meted out in a fair and equitable manner.

    D. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.

    E. Successfully incorporates student interests and contributions into instructional plans, providing opportunities to participate in group and individual activities.

    F. Creates educational experiences that provide each student the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the areas of: personal-social adjustment, decision making, positive self-image, career education and other life skills.

    3. Professional

    A. Promotes and follows adopted school district philosophy, policies and procedures.

    B. Cooperates with the building principal in the evaluation process.

    C. Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner.

    D. Displays a sincere interest in assisting the team by offering appropriate suggestions, asking for help and using each member of the special services team.

    E. Maintains accurate, complete and legible records, as required and prescribed by school law, district policy or administrative regulation.

    F. Supervises and coordinates instructional aides when appropriate.

    G. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding assigned students and conforms to prescribed rules and regulations regarding student records.

    H. Aids in selection of instructional material and maintains required inventory records.

    4. Personal

    A. Promotes a positive public relations program in school and in the community.

    B. Conducts one's self in a businesslike, professional and/or task-oriented manner.


    Qualifications:

    1. Has a minimum of a bachelor's degree.

    2. Meets all certification requirements including teaching area endorsement in the state of Illinois.

    3. Has a college major or minor in the area of assignment.
