The Office of Finance manages the City Colleges of Chicago's (CCC) finances and providing governance, support and leadership in financial management and reporting, business and treasury services, debt, budgeting, planning, and financial aid.


PRIMARY OBJECTIVE


Reporting directly to the District Director, Financial Planning and Budget, the Financial Analyst-District Office prepares moderately complex financial and cost/benefit analyses and projections to assist senior executive managers in analyzing costs associated with negotiated employee health benefits contracts, employee/management labor contracts, and other financial issues of a confidential nature. Prepares budgets for operating, capital and grant funds. Performs related duties as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Works collaboratively with managers in the review and cost/benefit analysis of bid proposals, prepares various financial reports and cost projection to assist in the comparative analysis of proposals.

  • Researches, organizes and provides financial data including payroll, health, and other employee benefit expenditures and costs for use by management in labor negotiations.

  • Formulates rate structures and develops financial models to calculate and forecast payroll costs for proposed and negotiated wage increases over the length of various labor contracts.

  • Conducts cost analysis and prepares reports and spreadsheets summarizing costs of various wage increase financial models proposed by management.

  • Participates and assists on various financial reporting and cost analysis projects that support management's strategic decision-making processes.

  • Performs financial data compilation and analysis work in relation to special assignments and conducts various ad hoc financial analyses using various databases and reporting tools including Excel and Oracle/Peoplesoft ERP system.



Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or a related field

  • Two years of experience in accounting or financial analysiS

  • Must be a self-starter capable of organizing and managing the preparation of time sensitive tasks

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Oracle/PeopleSoft ERP system

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office. Advanced Excel skills
