Position Overview:

The Health Information Intake Specialist will coordinate, monitor, and review admission documentation for all of JourneyCare’s programs. The Health Information Intake Specialist is responsible for processing admission-related patient information to ensure that patient records are accurate, compliant and legible. The Health Information Intake Specialist possesses comprehensive knowledge of medical, administrative, ethical and legal requirements and standards related to healthcare delivery and the privacy of protected health information.

This position acts as a liaison between the Referral Intake Coordinators, and the Health Information Management Technicians (HITs), and interacts with all levels of an organization - clinical, financial, administrative, and information systems - that utilize patient data in decision-making and everyday operations.

Experience and Skills

Job Requirements

  • Associates degree in Health Information Management (HIM) plus a minimum of three (3) years of healthcare data experience or Baccalaureate degree in Health Information Management (HIM) or equivalent
  • Healthcare Information Management Technician (RHIT®) credentialed and minimum of three (3) years of healthcare data experience
  • Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience in healthcare or health information management
  • Preferred Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Computer training (Word, Excel, Patient database, e-mail, internet)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Communication skills verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Detailed knowledge of medical terminology
  • Data analysis skills
