Quill.com is a Chicagolande-Commerce company, founded in 1956 with an annual revenue exceeding $1.2 billion.  Quill.com supports small businesses acrossthe United States with everyday office essentials in a fast, friendly and funway.  Quill.com has been a part ofStaples, Inc. since 1998, and has 450 friendly associates based inLincolnshire.  Our home office includes acafeteria, gym and nature trail.  We alsomaintain a collaborative work space in Chicago for our associates who live inthe city. The Senior Financial Analyst – Customer Memberships atQuill.com provides financial analysis and to marketing efforts for QuillPLUS,our membership program.  The analyst willhelp provide insight into the growth, customer benefits and financial health ofthe membership program.  The analystserves as a resource to help provide quantitative insight to guide near-term decisionmaking and longer-term marketing strategy.

KeyResponsibilities

  • Run weekly reporting that provides insight intothe health of the QuillPLUS membership program and its customer base.
  • Provide narrative and context beyond theanalysis to explain trends and aberrations found in report results.
  • Develop analyses to measure the financial impactof different customer segments in the program and provide guidance on how best(or whether) to target each ones
  • Create scenarios to model customer behavior andfinancial impacts based upon different pricing and promotion strategies.
  • Offer program-level insight into the overallprofitability of the program as well as forecasts of the future programprofitability.  
  • Complete separate financial analyses to determinecost to acquire and payback of different marketing efforts
  • Offer qualitative reasoning and guidance tomarketing partners on key decisions.
  • Collaborate with marketing technology to createcustomer lists for email campaigns and other marketing efforts.




Qualifications

BasicRequirements: 

 

  • 3-5 years or more work experience in a marketing finance-related function.
  • A bachelor's degree.

 

Preferred Skills:  

  •  An MBA is a significant plus but is not required for this position. 
  • Strong experience in pulling data from a relational data warehouse.  (SQL is not required but is a plus.) 
  • Microsoft Access and knowledge of joining tables using either SQL or the Query Wizard.
  • Knowledge of marketing finance concepts, including customer acquisition costs, payback and return on investment.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel charts and graphs, pivot tables, and calculations (in particular VLOOKUPs and aggregate functions).
  • Familiarity with membership program objectives and financial measurements.
  • Comfort in discussing quantitative concepts in regular terms, especially in meeting settings.
  • Openness to speak in public.

  • Willingness to engage business partners about important trends, in particular senior leadership.
